Dear Studierendenwerk, dear esteemed CGiN enthusiasts,
It’s been a while since we last spoke—you haven’t heard from us, and we, in turn, haven’t heard from you. Yet, our appetite for news about the new Nordmensa remains unquenched.
After a mere 5.5 years of construction, including three and a half years of delays, the supposed grand opening in October 2024 is now well behind us.
At the time, you told us the following: Making Nordmensa’s energy supply climate-neutral was impossible. The construction schedule was set in stone, as contracts had already been signed, and any further delay would mean financial ruin for the Studentenwerk.
Given the long delay since October—just check today’s date—we can only interpret this as a sign that you have overcome these obstacles with perseverance and innovative spirit—fantastic!
We want to express our joy at what appears to be a bold decision to revise your construction plans. Of course, we gladly accept this delay if it means that the heating system is now climate-neutral.
Let’s take a wild guess:
Have groundbreaking new insights into structural engineering suddenly made it possible to replace 1 ton of CHP (combined heat and power) units with 1 ton of solar panels?
Has the engineering firm discovered the magic of using superheated steam from a high-temperature heat pump?
And could it be that Studierendenwerk has finally embraced the initiative for a district energy concept at Nordcampus?
Are we witnessing a late-stage love story?
To sum it up: Could it be that we will soon marvel at an emissions-free cafeteria truly deserving of the title „Pioneer of the green Energy revolution“?
For now, we remain in the dark—please help us uncover these mysteries!
By the way: Even in its unopened state, Nordmensa already shines as a true masterpiece of efficiency—after all, serving zero emissions for all the meals that haven’t been served since October results in an infinitely high efficiency rating! Chapeau, that is truly a delight.
In short: We are eager to hear more and would like to thank you—albeit hypothetically—for your innovations. After all, we thrive not only on knowledge but also on action, hope, and, occasionally, cafeteria food.
With climate-friendly regards,
Your GÖmüse
